Stress, anxiety, burnout, overwhelm, compassion fatigue and uncertainty…

the emotional toll that we encounter on a daily basis when working with vulnerable people is all too clear to see. When professionals work in high pressured roles mistakes will happen, sickness becomes common, presenteeism is embedded into the culture and absenteeism is rife!

Kinbee genuinely believes that good quality effective and regular reflective practice can support personal wellbeing team cohesiveness and operational capacity. Reflective practice can be described as the learning process that can be applied both formally and informally sites that support personal growth and professional mastery.

Reflective practice is often assumed

to be happening across our services but whether it is useful and helpful to individuals is unclear.

The idea of “finding time” or “engaging with feelings” is still something that is often seen as a burden, not necessary or something that creates additional time pressure but sadly the emotional cost of support work has been neglected.

Our independent facilitators are trained to challenge professional practice with compassion but also help professionals avoid complacency, unintentional mediocrity and highlight what is working well. These sessions are for those who aren't afraid to dig deep and explore a learning culture of ‘not knowing’ – often reaching a place of job satisfaction and personal growth.

why

Kinbee takes two different approaches towards reflective practice:

1. Using Kolb's Experiential Learning Model to explore, learn and adapt:

• Concrete experience (exploring an experience/ event that has happened)
• Reflective observation (reviewing the experience with an independent facilitator)
• Abstract conceptualization (concluding what has been learnt from the experience)
• Active experimentation (planning and trying out new skills, knowledge or insight)

2. Adapting our facilitation to suit the four different learning styles:

• Activist (feel and do)
• Reflector (feel and watch)
• Theorist (think and watch)
• Pragmatist (think and do

Learning and development courses

Using these different approaches,

our reflective practice leads can support individuals to grow their problem solving skills, think more creatively, respond to challenges more pragmatically and build their capacity to cope with difficult situations.
